Specifiers and installers – Start by asking these questions when working to determine whether a building product or system has the necessary evidence to establish it is suitable to use in the design and construction of a building, including conformance with the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC).
Statutory building surveyors require information that demonstrates products, materials and assemblies requiring assessment against the evidence of suitability requirements of
the NCC and referenced standards. The information must be adequate to enable evaluation that the product is fit to be used for its intended purpose.
Sourcing credible and verifiable evidence often relies on conformity assessment, which is a set of processes that show a product, service or system meets the requirements of a standard. A key feature of good practice in conformity assessment is the use of impartial and accredited testing, inspection and certification of products to establish and verify the claims of manufacturers.

The National Building Product Assurance Framework is the nationally agreed response to recommendation 21 on building product safety from the Building Confidence Report. The Framework sets out five proposed deliverables under five elements.
